Utne Reader spot illustration for an article on Obama’s demands for transparency and accountability within the halls of state and local government. Elected officials and bureaucrats have been scrambling to provide spending data to the federal website recovery.gov. This allows all spending numbers to be viewed online by the public, already resulting in the identification of several inefficiencies that have helped put tax dollars to better use.
